To be more specific it is a rare syndrome of intravascular thrombosis and hemorrhagic infraction of the skin that is rapidly progressive and is accompanied by vascular collapse and disseminated intravascular coagulation. It can end up fatal within a couple of hours.
After Bo got diagnosed with this rare disease, the doctors told her parents that she might lose both of her legs. The parents were shocked.
