The layout isn’t changed, though the ventilation system and the water and drainage pipes have been fully modernised.

A highly original solution for lighting up the rooms inside the bunker was found: purpose-built sun tubes that poke through the sturdy ceiling.

After its transformation, the former wartime shelter is barely recognisable!

Now it’s a modern three-bedroom bungalow, with two bathrooms, a spacious kitchen and a living room.

Plenty of innovative solutions had to be found but the result was very much worth it. Elizabeth says that she now feels that she lives in the best place in the world.

Veterans who often come to visit Elizabeth’s place are often amazed by the transformation that’s taken place.

Despite all the obstacles, with a bit of creativity and a positive outlook, this old abandoned bunker has been brought to life and transformed into a real home.
